Prior to the release of Android OS 5.1 (Lollipop), anyone who found your device could easily bypass the lock (digital PIN or pattern) with a quick factory reset. To fix this, Google has introduced Google Verification or Factory Reset Protection.
While the introduction of Factory Reset Protection aims to make a lost and found device unusable, there is a problem. This Android device protection feature can lock your device if you can't remember your login details, or buy a pre-owned device with an account still setup, that's what you need to do.
What is Factory Reset Protection?
Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is a built-in security feature on Android devices running version 5.1 (Lollipop) or higher. FRP is automatically enabled when you set up a Google account on your Android device.
FRP prevents anyone trying to reset your phone from bypassing the initial setup screen. It's an anti-theft measure that reduces the incentive to steal the device in the first place, as it effectively disables it. To use the phone, one has to log in with the Google username and password which are pre-set on the device.
How to disable FRP to bypass Google Account Verification
FRP is automatically enabled once you log into your phone with your Google account. To disable it, all you have to do is remove the Google account from your Android device.
Deactivating FRP is probably the easiest solution available to bypass Google verification. You should always do this if you plan to sell or give away your phone, or if you are buying a used device, check that the seller has removed their account before buying.
qb- Go to settings.
- Tap Cloud and accounts (or accounts on some brands).
- Select Accounts.
- Go to your Google account and tap on Remove Account.
- Verify that you want to remove your account by clicking Remove Account, or I agree (or any affirmative action prompted).
Note that this method only removes the security of a factory reset from your device. It does not unlock it, so if you are traveling abroad, you will need to unlock your Android phone separately.
If, after disabling FRP, you still want to maintain a certain level of phone security, Android apps that take photos of a phone snooper can help you.
What happens if you don't remove your Google account?
If you do not remove your Google account, the phone will enter the Google reactivation lock. When Reactivation Lock is turned on, you cannot use the device even after a factory reset; Unless you turn off the reactivation lock. Here's how to disable or enable Samsung Reactivation Lock.
How to Bypass Google Account Verification When Factory Resetting Android
There is no official way to bypass Google account verification as it is an essential security feature. With most brands (especially the latest models), it can be difficult to bypass Google verification because many FRP bypass procedures are based on security issues that are often fixed with the latest Android security updates.
You can consider using some of the unlocking software found on the internet. Some of these programs claim to be able to quickly unlock the screen by removing your Android phone PIN, password, fingerprint, and pattern, although there is no guarantee that they will work.
Therefore, if you bought a used phone, we recommend that you ask the previous owner to unlock it for you. In this way, you will avoid the problem of trying to bypass Google account verification after the reset. While iOS devices are more secure than their Android counterparts, you can also remove Apple's iCloud activation lock, bypassing Google account verification is not an easy task.
Google Account Verification requires more than factory resetting your Android device to unlock it. The good news is that it's easy to avoid if you remove your account before resetting your phone and pass it on to someone else.
With this in mind, always make sure to remove your account details before passing your used device on to the next person. It helps one to avoid going through the standard Google account verification process after the reset.
